For over a decade, Topology has been working each year with senior music students for a curriculum-aligned program of composition workshops with performance outcomes of original music for final IA3 assessments.
Over the past three years, Topology has been working closely with the students of Cooktown State School to nurture creativity and provide meaningful high-quality arts experiences.
Topology is regularly co-collaborators on large-scale community-led creative work. In 2025, Childers State School and Isis District State High School were involved in a moving community-wide initiative commemorating the 25th anniversary of the 2000 Childers Palace Backpackers fire – an event that remains a significant moment in the region’s history.
Invited by Good to Great Schools, Topology tutors spent two days with the instrumental music students and choir at Cape York Aboriginal Australian Academy Hopevale Campus in February 2025. Most of the students in the instrumental program had only had a handful of lessons on their instruments. Face to face lessons in remote communities like Hopevale are rare and they approached this opportunity with enthusiasm and curiosity.
