Topology are participating in AusArt Day this year, by raising money to support regional artists and strengthen their creative capacity through our initiative ‘Sound Of Our Place’.

WHAT IS SOUND OF OUR PLACE?

Sound of Our Place is a community-led commissioning project.

Over many years of touring throughout Queensland, Topology has built meaningful relationships with local musicians, storytellers, poets, First Nations knowledge holders and community creatives whose voices reflect the unique character of their place. 

Sound of Our Place builds on these relationships by supporting the development of new collaborative projects with artists in regional and remote Queensland. The initiative will provide opportunities for local artists and communities to share stories, sounds and creative perspectives.

Actively gathering sounds from regional communities, the campaign will build awareness and excitement around the diversity of our state. A curated digital ‘sound portrait’ will be revealed on AusArt Day accompanied by visuals and a sound map.

By investing in local artists, Sound of Our Place strengthens the future of Queensland Stories, creating pathways for new work that is shaped by the people, places and cultures that make Queensland unique.

Every place has a story. Every story has a sound.
