What kind of workshops can Topology provide? The Creative Program consists of a series of comosition workshops with our artists guiding your students in the creation of a new piece of music with them. We can tailor these options to compliment your weekly lesson plan/schedule for the term, to work towards a particular performance or assessment outcome, and of course to suit your budget.
Do students need to know how to read and write music to participate in a Creative Program? NO! We believe in more than one way to compose music or write songs. We have worked with a variety of school groups with a diverse range of skills and level of experience with music - some as young as 7 years old! We tailor our programs to suit each classrooms' skillset and can guarantee a great musical outcome regardless of students' previous experience. We are consistently impressed with the natural creativity young people have when they're given the tools and chance to express themselves through music!
Can Topology perform with my students? YES! Where possible our Creative Programs culminate in a public performance showcasing the students' compositions, with the students sharing the stage with our artists! It's one of our favourite things to do! If you are interested in exploring this option kindly indicate that in your expression of interest.
How much does a Top Up program cost? Cost varies depending on the length and scope of the desired workshop program. If you have a budget to stick to, Topology will endeavour to tailor a program that best suits your requirement.
What kind of subsidies are available for regional schools? The Topology Creative Academy is supported by the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation and Arts Queensland, who afford subsidies to schools in regional QLD and NT! This means you could be eligible to receive a significant discount OR a program completely FREE of cost. To find out what you are eligible for submit an Expression of Interest.
I'm not a music or instrumental teacher. Can I submit an EOI? Absolutely! We believe that everyone is creative - and that creative thinking is not restricted to the arts.
